Pauline Bijvoet was born in Picardy, in northern France into a large and happy family with a country home, where she became entranced with objects, souvenirs and their stories. A design apprenticeship brought her to New Delhi, where she learned about the myriad native Craft. Eventually she turned her home their into a small hotel with an inviting Indo-French flair. She also sold souvenirs, linen, fabrics, and antiques she found across India. Returning to France, she launched Scarlette Ateliers in 2020 in Paris, with designs for home, accessories, and wardrobe. Produced in India with her many artisan collaborators.
